For processes I use the modified turtle diagram that is included in my Risk-Based Audit Manager package, found in the thread Developing a ISO 9001:2015 Internal Audit Plan and Schedule. The object for auditors is to understand the standard, understand the processes being reviewed and understand the process of auditing, including how to effectively do interviews and reports. In my view it helps explain the standard very well.Īre you new at auditing? If so, I can recommend the book Internal Auditing in Plain English. We also discourage scoring because the decision on what score to give can be so subjective and the audit is just a "snapshot" of the process.Īre you new to the standard? If so, I can recommend the book ISO 9001:2015 in Plain English. Besides, in most processes we will find multiple clauses that are relevant so a canned checklist with the standard clauses laid out in order is not helpful. One spends too much time reading the questions instead of exploring the process. I have never seen one that is easy to use effectively. We have always advised against "canned" checklists because they can be so limiting.
